not fair

Coachella headliners now include Portishead, Kraftwerk and Prince.

Headliners for the inaugural All Points West festival - or whatever its called - are Radiohead, Radiohead, and Jack Johnson.

Uh, yeah. That kinda sucks.

I'm not at all bothered about Prince unless he promises:

a) not to play anything post-1988 and

b) not to play hits medleys.

Seriously. A friend saw a suggestion on a message board that he should play Purple Rain in full, and I couldn't agree more. I would fucking DIE. I mean, if Roger Waters can do Dark Side of the Moon, I think Purple Rain is eligible!

I hate hate HATE his fucking medleys. Either play the songs, or don't. Seriously.

1988 is a bit harsh of a cut off though. 1992 I'll give ya, though. Well, some of the "Musicology"/"3121"/"Planet Earth" stuff would be OK.

I'd love to see Prince, but a] tickets are always way too much, especially since b] you never know what you're going to get.

I'm with you on Purple Rain though. With an encore of the b-sides, of course!

I think 1988 is pretty safe. I mean, I guess I can deal with "7" but anything beyond that and I can't be bothered. I guess he can play "Black Sweat" because it was fucking hot. But nothing else! :)

See, there I have to respectfully disagree. 'Thieves in the Temple', 'Gett Off', 'Cream', 'Sexy MF', 'My Name Is Prince' - all post-1988 and all amazing. And those are only the singles. [I've never been a big fan of the song 'Diamonds and Pearls' - too sappy and cheesy.] Not that he'd play most of them in this day and age, but still. There's more to especially "Diamonds and Pearls" and "The Love Symbol Album" than a lot of people give credit for.
